Stéphane Fromageot was born in Paris in 1971. From 1984 to 1993, he studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris where he concluded his studies with following diplomas: Violin, Chamber music, Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue and Orchestration. In 1991 he was awarded the Jeunes Prodiges-Mozart Composition Prize for his Concerto for Violin, Piano and Chamber Orchestra. The first performance was at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, with the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris. In 1992 s well in 1993, he won the Film Music Competition Ile de France. In 1993, he was the concertmaster of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes with Marek Janowski as musical director. From 1994 to 1997, he was engaged as violinist in Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France and Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris. From 1994 to 1996, he studied conducting at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt am Main, and participated the Master Classes for Conducting ofTanglewood with Seiji Ozawa, Bernhard Haitink and André Previn in 1996. During the season 1997-1998, he was invited to work as a pianist at the Houston Opera Studio, Texas. Since 1998, Stéphane Fromageot is engaged as Conductor at the Theater St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he conducts a broad repertoire with works: Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, The Queen of Spades, La Traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor, Werther, Les contes d'Hoffmann, L'enfant et les sortilèges, Lady Macbeth of Mzensk, or Der Zwerg. He also conducted in various German theaters: Un Ballo in maschera (Bielefeld), Hänsel und Gretel (Augsburg), Fidelio (Freiburg), and lately Die Zauberflöte at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2007) and a concert with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich (2009).
